Approximately 60 years old, it reflects the expressive village-weaving traditions of Anatolia and carries the distinctive character of an authentic handmade textile.
This type of rug is traditionally known as a mihrab rug or Turkish prayer rug. A mihrab is the recessed niche found in a mosque wall that indicates the direction of prayer. Anatolian weavers adapted this architectural feature into rug designs, usually representing it as a pointed or stepped arch that creates a symbolic personal prayer space.
The stepped mihrab is clearly visible in the central composition of this rug. Stylized plant and arrow-like motifs decorate the prayer field, while the upper section contains abstract trees, small flowers, and architectural forms.
